The Lazy Girl's Guide to Great Hair
Hi, I'm Callie Dauler and I hate washing my hair. It takes me forever and I really would rather spend my time elsewhere. In any given Instagram story I'm probably circa day 10 of a blowout but it looks like day 2. Yes, I realize I'm kind of gross (don't judge) but I have discovered a handful of great secrets in my quest for long-lasting lazy girl blowouts and heck yeah, I'll share them with you.
Dry Shampoo. I've tried so so SO many dry shampoos and DryBar's Detox is my favorite by a landslide. I love the smell and it sucks up so much oil. When your hair starts to look greasy, grab that Detox and don't be afraid to use it. I use it every few days as needed.
Silk Pillowcase. I wrote a post on the science behind why silk pillowcases are so great here. I swear by mine. This is a splurge purchase that, to me, is worth every cent and I'll never go back to cotton. There's a whole slew of benefits I go through on that post but one of my favorites is that it's helped nearly double the life of my blowout. Bed Head just doesn't happen. Being able to quickly brush through my hair and not having to be hard on the blowout to get tangles out helps tremendously.
Touching up curls. I touch up my curls as needed with the Bio Ionic inch and a half curling iron. I rarely ever have to re-do my full head but I redo pieces that have fallen flat right before I go to bed, then sleep on it so it falls a little more naturally.
Spacing out hair maintenance. We don't have kids yet so I realize I might not have this luxury at some point, but I'm milking it while I can. I never get two things done to my hair at once. If you can space out your cut and color appointments, that means you're getting two separate free blowouts every three weeks.
We're all incredibly busy and if you're anything like me, you dread hair washing days because it takes so.much.time to make it look like you want it to. Cut down the hair washing time and use that time for something else, I say. I share with the world how infrequently I wash my hair but you certainly don't have to. It'll be our little secret.
